September 19th, 2008Chinese poker, otherwise called Russian poker, has been played in Asia over a long period of time, it has only lately that this gambling game has gained in popularity in other places in the world where gambling is widespread due to the exciting features of the game that give it a tempting thrill quotient.
Played with the same point value system as poker, this gambling game can be played by 2,3 or 4 players and needs only a standard 52 card deck. Generally played by four, each is dealt 13 cards which he arranges into three sets – two 5 card sets known as back and middle and the remaining 3 cards constitute the front taking note that the highest value cards make the back hand and the lowest value cards form the front hand. The gamblers play for royalties and bonuses and announce the amount of bet before revealing their hands. Some common forms of royalties that are used in Chinese poker are Straight flush, Four of a kind, Full House (in middle hand) and Three of a kind (in front hand). In case a player has such combinations like three straights, three flushes, six pairs (in all three hands) or 13 unique cards, he stand to win a bonus payout immediately/
While some variation of this gambling game does not allow surrendering, generally if a player surrenders, although he is exempted from paying royalty, he has to pay an amount greater than if he had lost two out of three hands but lesser than if he had scooped and lost all three hands
Chinese poker is popularly played as side casino games at large poker tournaments for typical stakes like $25, $50 and $100 per unit and in some cases even attract stakes as high as $500 and $1000 per unit. Las Vegas has hosted Chinese poker and this casino game.
